Drop in vehicle sales reaches auto parts

The drop in sales of automobiles in the country is reflected in problems for the manufacturers of auto parts installed in Sorocaba. According to the regional Office of the center of industries of the State of São Paulo (Ciesp), the city has a strong presence of companies in this sector, which suffers from the decline in sales of cars, trucks, tractors and combines. It is estimated that sales of light cars fall 18% this year, while the larger vehicles have a pullback of up to 21%. This problem affects many local companies, which have relocated employees or given a vacation so you don't have to quit.
' Last year, when we close the sales planning of 2014, predicted an increase of 30%; Some customers initially put their projects and, in may, we forecast for 10%. However, had the World Cup and the month of June was very bad. We are anticipating an increase of 3% compared to 2013 now ', says André Dalossi Costa, Director of Delfingen, company that produces components produced in plastic for the installation of in-vehicle technology.
For Dalossi, there was great euphoria on the part of the market in 2014. However, besides the expectations are confirmed, the World Cup came as a ' final ' shot against the growth projections. According to him, the month of June was the worst in the entire historical trajectory of Delfingen. ' And the people are very strongly linked to the automobile industry ', says the Director.
Hencel sales, industry artifacts and plastic parts for vehicles, also record successive falls, says the Director of the company, Henrique Ataíde Nephew. ' Effect (the fall in vehicle sales) is great and we're not direct suppliers, but we're in jail ', he says. According to him, in the years 2012 and 2013, the company's monthly production was one million pieces per month. From April to June this year, however, sales were reduced: 380,370 pieces, in April; 363,300 in may; 318,000, in June; and July must close with about 281,000 sold pieces.
Without layoffs
The drop in vehicle sales had already reflected in 268 layoffs at the Schaeffler Group (INA, FAG and LUF), in Sorocaba, as matter of June, published by jornal Cruzeiro do Sul. However, even before the bad scenario for sales, the directors of Delfingen and Hencel claim they have done everything possible not to lay off employees at the moment. Their options have been for vacation or relocation of production employees to other functions. ' We've been avoiding sending staff away, doing everything possible ', says Henrique Ataíde, of Hencel.
' Decreases frames in production and reallocation to administrative vacancies that had opened, so you don't have to quit ', André Dalossi, account of Delfingen. Another possible way, he adds, was enjoying the moment with staff who had already accumulated vacation. ' Had the possibility of layoffs, the Union gave, if needed. And, somehow, I can put people on leave and then, in a future, cashing in vacation ', he adds.
Rest of the year
For the Vice-President of Ciesp, Erly Domingues de Syllos, the automotive chain industry has a strong presence in Sorocaba and has worried the Ciesp. However, he says, expectations for the second half are for stability. ' It's not going to be any acalentador, but will be stable or with little fall ', he says.
