Syngenta will invest $ 650 million in purchases

Syngenta must shell out about $ 650 million in acquisitions this year, the same record level registered in 2012, since the company is in search of new technologies for seeds and may invest in start-ups. The Swiss company is the largest in the segment of agricultural chemicals in the world. "There are many opportunities that we are eyeing," said Mike Mack, President of the company. "If we are lucky, we will invest the same amount last year, completed the company's financial Vice President, John Ramsay. Syngenta's ambitions, however, may face obstacles. There are few midsize businesses that purchase, according to Ramsay.
Companies like DuPont and Dow Chemical are expanding their operations in the agribusiness segment. But Mack living trust with prospects for 2020 — he hopes to earn $ 25 billion by then.
Net profit grew 17% to $ 1.8 billion last year, compared to forecasts of $ 1.8 billion of 15 analysts ears by Bloomberg.
Syngenta had a boost of its operations in Latin America, that, seasonally, contribute a greater share of revenue in the fourth quarter, with elevated soya prices and increases in spending of farmers in sprays and seeds. The company plans to invest $ 77 million in the expansion of its production unit of corn seed in Formosa (Goiás), driven by the growing demand for hybrids of corn to feed cattle, hogs and chickens.
