The future of aluminium packaging

With the aim of showing the packaging market trends and growth prospects for the sector in 2017, the Brazilian Company of aluminum (CBA) and the Diadem flexible packaging opened their doors for journalists of the segment. The event was organized in conjunction with the Brazilian Aluminum Association (Abal).
According to the directors of the companies, the economic downturn has made the industry realized the need to innovate to meet the various demands. The commercial Director of Diadema flexible packaging, Adam Parra, States that the main change was in the technological sphere. "One of our responses to these demands is the way how we treat data such as arts and evidence, that were today are fully digital and physical. The trend is that all prepress information, including colors, will be on "the cloud", which is completely different from the current one, "said Parra.
After the process of adaptation to new projects, the concern has turned around as attracting the consumer, that is increasingly connected and aware of market trends. In addition, it is engaged with issues related to the environment and expect the same from the company in which he trusts and assigns value, so the Diadema have as goals the rational use of inputs and emissions control.
The use of aluminum in packaging contributes to sustainability, since the metal is recyclable and still acts as a complete barrier against moisture, light and oxygen, protecting the natural properties of the packed product. In this way, the flexible market has great prospects in the most diverse segments, depending on the cost-benefit associated with environmental issues.
From studies conducted, the packages have evolved and have become lighter, as for example the stand up pouches, which are easy to open and has won new categories as chilled products (yogurt, milk, butter, etc.).
Nanotechnology in this market, also will bring new materials tailored to the new needs that will come. "We are in constant change, guiding us the creativity that the sector provides us with," said Parra.
