Aluminum ensures ensures aroma coffee aroma and flavour

The absence of air in the food packaging, made possible by the vacuum filling technology, prevent spoilage and increases shelf life of the products. In the case of coffee, the process has as its ally the aluminium, essential element for the conservation of aroma and flavor for up to a year.
Since 1970, the national industry uses the vacuum process to pack the coffee supplied in laminated bag with 15% aluminum, packaged in cardboard boxes. The Melita was the first brand to arrive in supermarkets.
"Good packaging is critical to preserve the aromas of coffee any longer. This is essential for the quality. Aluminum has high resistance and prevents the penetration of oxygen, which preserves the coffee, in addition to being suitable for giving form to the package (brick), "explains Nathan Herszkowicz, Executive Director of ABIC – Brazilian Association of the coffee industry.
"40% of the packaging of coffee in the country are the vacuum"
According to Herszkowicz, the greatest consumption of coffee in Brazil is still the cushion packaging because it is cheaper and because consumers can feel the aroma when tighten the packing.
Today 40% of products available in supermarkets are vacuum packed, but the trend is for increased consumption. "The vacuum process preserves better coffee, that determines the growth of preference among consumers," concludes the Director of ABIC.
