Power sector turnover rises 9.3% in 2016

The food sector closed with revenues of R$ 2016 614.3 billion, which represented a nominal growth of 9.3% from 2015, according to data from the Brazilian Association (Abia feed industries. The Association reported that investments in the power sector showed a fall of 14.3% in 2016 compared to the previous year, reaching $9 billion, compared with 10.5 billion R$ a year before. The volume of mergers and acquisitions in the sector, on the other hand, increased by 25.7% in the year to 11.6 billion R$.
Edmund Klotz, President of Abia, considered that there was a change in the form of investing companies in the sector. "Instead of investing in new factories, companies are buying other. It does not generate employment, but shows that the sector continues with credibility in the market, "said Klotz. Considering the sum of investments, mergers and acquisitions, there was an increase in the total intakes of 4.6% to 20.6 billion R$.
Klotz noted that, in previous years, the sector has made disbursements in the construction of factories, mainly in the North and northeast of the country. With the recession, companies initially put investment in new units, waiting for improvement in consumption scenario. Most of the contributions last year were aimed at the expansion of production lines, product development and maintenance of existing factories.

Denis Ribeiro, Director of the Economic Department of the Abia, noted that the average history of investments in the sector is r $11 billion per year. For the Economist, with the recovery of brazilian industry production grows back, and may stimulate investments in the future. "The industry is returning to normal this year. As we increase the use of the installed capacity, the industry must invest in new factories, "said Ribeiro.
Projections
For 2017, the Abia designs breakthrough between 0.6% and 1.2% in the production. For actual sales, the Abia designs 0.7% increase 1.5%. In 2016, the industry''s revenue has dropped 0.63% real
