AMD lowers quarterly loss and raises forecasts

The Advanced Micro Devices reported lower than expected quarterly loss on Tuesday and made strong revenue forecast for the current quarter, given the demand for its graphics chips for game consoles and stabilization in the PC market.
The greatly anticipated next release are the new Ryzen processors for PCs, geared for gamers and others who need a high-performance processor, as well as the end of the near-monopoly of Intel.
AMD said in October expect launch the processor in the first half of this year. Deutsche Bank had said the day before that sales in the quarter can be reached with customers holding off until the new processor is released.

The net loss decreased to $51 million, or 0.06 dollar per share, of 102 million, or 0.13 dollar per share, a year earlier. Excluding items, AMD lost 0.01 dollar per share.
Analysts on average expected a loss of 0.02 us dollar per share and revenue of $1.07 billion, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/s.
AMD said sales rose 3,7% in your processors for servers and game consoles. The unit makes chips used in the Microsoft Xbox and the Sony PlayStation.
