Despite drop in Argentina, wine production advances 2%

World production of wine increased by 2% in 2015 and was 275.7 million hectolitres. The Italy resumed world leadership and surpassed France and Spain, according to the International Organization of wine (OIV).
In South America, Argentina reduced to 12%, to 13.3 million, while Chile registered a new production record with 12.8 million hectolitres (high of 23%).
Worldwide, after the record in 2013 and in 2014, "the world of wine production in 2015 is situated in a good average," said the OIV in a statement, but warns that this is only an estimate, since countries like China and Russia-respectively the 8th and the 12th world-not released their numbers.
The Italy, which in 2014 lost his lead for France, returned to first place with 48.9 million hectolitres, surpassing the 47.4 million from 36.6 million of France and Spain. Fourthly, the United States, with 22.1 million. Countries like Portugal and Romania also increased production
