The Association of tobacco growers of Brazil (Afubra) estimates that approximately 60% of the production of Virginia tobacco was already negotiated in 2014/2015 crop in southern Brazil, which amounts to 360,966 tonnes from 601,610 tonnes production estimate.

Brazilian tobacco exports totaled 627 thousand tons and yielded $ 3.27 billion in 2013, according to data from the Bureau of foreign trade (Secex) compiled by Interstate tobacco industry Union (SindiTabaco). Sales revenues kept the same level of the previous year, and thus the country again led the global shipments.

The profit of Souza Cruz climbed 9.2% in the second quarter compared to a year earlier, to $ 435,7 million. In over a quarter of a reduction in cigarette consumption and increase in spending on interest payment, the advance was secured mainly by a lean operating expense.
