Production of chlorine and soda grows 0.5%

The production of chlorine and soda fell 0.5% in the first half, said the Brazilian Association of the industry of chloro-alkali and derivatives (Abiclor). In the first six months of the year, were produced 581,700 tons of chlorine and 638,700 tonnes of soda.
The rate of capacity utilisation was 76.7% in the first half, 0.3% lower than before the same interval last year.
Domestic sales of caustic soda grew 4.7% from January to June. Sales expenses total discharged from 6.4% in the first half, pulled by the advancement of exports.
"The recovery of some sectors of the economy impacts positively the chlorine-soda industry and create more positive expectations for the second half of 2017," he said, in a statement, the President of Abiclor, Alexandre de Castro
