Sale of tablet 7% in 2017 must fall

São Paulo-after shrinking 32% in 2016, the sale of tablets in the country should follow shrinking this year, albeit on a larger scale. According to projections from IDC consulting, the prospect is that this market back down over 7% this year.
The result of the last year is the second in a row, and in the period were sold about 4 million units, i.e. 32% less than in 2015, when they sold about of 5,800,000 of devices.
For this year, IDC Brazil estimates that the market for tablets reach 3,700,000 mark of devices sold in 2017 result that would show the smallest retraction force within this consumer segment. The data are part of the IDC study Brazil Tablets Tracker Q4. Of the total number of tablets sold last year only 26500 were notebooks with detachable screens.
"In 2016, after the boom in sales of tablets, 80% of the market was dominated by three companies that resisted the crisis period and the cannibalization of these devices. That left the sector healthier and with products that offer better user experience to the consumer, "says market analyst of IDC Brazil, Wellington La Falce.
According to the study, the products offered for sale in 2016 were in a price range only 3% higher than in the previous year. "In 2015, the tablets were, on average, 500 R$. Last year, prices were in the range of $513, "says La Falce.
Between October and December 2016, 1.2 million units were sold, i.e. 17% more than in the third quarter of 2016 and 11% less than in the same period in 2015. "As the tablet next on the wish list of the children, the last quarter of 2016 kept heated movement", concludes the IDC analyst.
