PC market back up 31% in 2016

Sao Paulo-the Brazilian market of PCs subsequently decreased in 2016, when they were sold 4,500,000 units. This is the lowest volume since 2004, according to IDC Brazil. The amount is 31.7% less than the registered in 2015, when machines were marketed 6,600,000.
According to research analyst of expert advice, Peter Hagge, the results were expected. "Beyond the crisis, last year there was more interest in smartphones, tablets and even smart televisions, appliances that offer the possibility to watch movies and consume entertainment. That is, the computer, which until 2012 was practically the only device to offer internet access, year after year losing space for other devices, "he says.
The fall of popularity of PCs also generated effects on the revenues of the segment: in 2016 the market made 10,900,000 R$, R$ about 15,300,000 in the previous year.
The average ticket machines already passed for 2,413 R$ in 2016, said Peter Hagge. In 2015 the average was 2,326 in 2014 and R$ of R$ 1,694.
Of the total of machines sold, 2,800,000 were notebooks (30% drop compared to 2015) and 1.7 million were desktops (35% drop compared to 2015). According to the IDC Brazil, 3 million computers were sold to the domestic market and 1.5 million had the corporate segment as the target.
When analyzed only the fourth quarter of last year, the results of IDC Brazil indicate 11% drop compared to the same period in 2015. Still, the period was the strongest of 2016 (representing 27% of the total) on the Black Friday.
Future
The trend, according to IDC Brazil, is that the market stabilizes in 2017, keeping the 4,500,000 of computers sold last year. "Even if the economy improves, we must not have an increase in sales this year. The computer market is mature and the life of the machines has passed six years ago, because the quality is better and the use has been shared with other devices. To stand out in the market, manufacturers need to innovate and deliver products with affordable prices, "said Hagge.
