IPCA-15 Registers 0.54% with high Education

Preview of the official inflation, according to the IBGE – Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics (IBGE), hit the lowest level for the month in five years and approached 5 percent in 12 months. The result encourages the Central Bank to keep lowering the basic interest rate aggressively. The national consumer price Index Broad-15 (IPCA-15) climbed 0.54 percent this month, accelerating over the high of 0.31% of the first month of the year, a seasonal movement caused by prices of education. In earned in 12 months through February, the IPCA-15 rose 5.02 percent, down from 5.94 percent in January, and even closer to the center of the official 4.5% target for IPCA, with 1.5 percentage point tolerance. It is the lowest level since June of 2012, when the IPCA-15 scored 5%. The IBGE explained that in February the group education was primarily responsible for the result of the indicator, after speeding up 5.17% high, about 0.18% in January. With that, the impact was 0.24 percentage point in the entire index.
