Hirota expects 300% increase in the sale of pork

The pork is gaining more and more desk space. With the modernization of pig creation techniques, food became a healthier protein source. In addition to the variety of cuts, another attraction is the most affordable price, which reaches one-third of the value of the beef. These reasons led the supermarket chain Hirota to register increase in sales of 80% in 2016 compared to the previous year. For this year, it is expected to grow to 300%.
"We have a whole strategy for pigs this year and we intend to have a significant growth," says Carlos Alberto André, General Manager of purchases of Hirota. According to him, currently the volume sold pork represents 10% of the total animal protein marketed by network. "Pork is the most consumed in the world and has more healthy Bovine cuts. Good fat
According to Adriana Miyuki, nutritionist at the network over the last 30 years Hirota the levels of fat, calorie and cholesterol of meat fell 31%, 14% and 10%, respectively. Today, there are swine cuts that are leaner than beef or chicken, for example.
"The pork is a protein of high biological value, which contains essential amino acids to the body, and also of high bioavailability, i.e., easily absorbed," says the nutritionist.
