CADE approves purchase of Hipoglós by Johnson & Johnson

The General Oversight of the Administrative Council for economic Defense (Cade) approved, without restrictions, the purchase of the ointment Hipoglós, Procter & Gamble (P&G), by Johnson & Johnson (J&J).
The decision was communicated in order published this Monday (25) in the "Official Gazette".
The deal was announced in March and has made J&J the new leader of the Brazilian market of creams against diaper rash.
According to data from the process in Cade, the operation involves the acquisition, by J&J, "right, title, equipment, regulatory information, intellectual property rights, know-how and other assets associated with the brand-related business Hipoglós".
Look inside the Cade, accompanied by the Superintendent-General, concluded that the transaction "does anticompetitive effects to the ointments and creams for diaper rash, given that the mark Hipoglós is acquired by a company that only works via imports, which has low participation in the relevant market adopted."
Also pointed out that the market has "effective competitors".
