51% of Brazilians feed out of home

Even in a year of crisis and with surveys pointing to a strong reduction in consumption outside the home, 51% of Brazilians have eaten away from home more than once or twice a week, according to the Nielsen Global study on trends of Food outside the home, for 2015. The Brazilians, including, stood out among latinos in the preference of eating away from home: 51% against 41%. Of the total number of Brazilians interviewed, 19% prefer to have breakfast outside the home, 72% prefer lunch and 39% dinner. Among the chosen establishments, fast food led the ranking with 55% of the responses, followed by the Casual Restaurant (41%), Formal Restaurant (39%) and Diner (19%).
Convenience is not the deciding factor
Already the main factors that interfere in the choice of the establishment, according to the study, is the price (44%) and food quality (41%). The service, hygiene and kitchen type were also cited. However, the less representative factor was convenience, chosen by only 9% of respondents.
