Anvisa reduces time limits for import of food and medicine

The Ministry of health, the Secretariat of ports, and the national health surveillance Agency released today in Santos, São Paulo coast, the restructuring of health surveillance project at the port of Santos.
The goal is to improve performance and speed to health surveillance actions, with improved infrastructure and increase in number of employees. According to the Ministry, after an evaluation, the initiative could be applied in other locations to monitor installed in ports, airports and borders. The expectation is to make faster import processes in Santos.
There the processes take an average of 24 days. With the expansion in the number of servers and infrastructure improvement in the period should be reduced to seven days.
The Ministry reported that 26 Anvisa professionals will work in modern computers and with faster access to the internet. They shall monitor the importation of medicines, cosmetics, perfumes and hygiene products; food, cleaning products, medical products and diagnostic products.
