Suzano Papel e Celulose starts planting eucalyptus in Pará

Suzano Papel e Celulose started in January planting eucalyptus seedlings in two of their farms in the State of Pará. The areas, which belonged to be afforested Valley Program, were acquired last year when the company bought all the shares of the Fund be afforested Valley.
Only during the month of January, Suzano will plant 900 acres on the farm, in the municipality of Conquering Ulianópolis, and in Arizona Farm, in Dom Eliseu, where are already sprouting other 220 hectares. Altogether will be 1,120 hectares of new areas planted this month.
According to Julius Ohlson, Director of forest operations of Suzano in Maranhão, Tocantins and Pará, the eucalyptus planting in the State will be important for supplying the company's factory in Empress, in Maranhão. "For this year, we have a goal of approximately 40 thousand hectares of plantations (deployment and reforms) to the supply Unit Empress. Of these, 15 thousand come from plantations in Pará. This is the beginning of a cycle important not only for the company but also for the State and region, generating jobs and beginning of a new forest business opportunity. "
Among the 15 thousand hectares under the annual programme for the forestry base of Pará, about 12 thousand are coming from areas of postharvest reform and more three thousand hectares of new areas.
