Trucking industry suffers rigorously for grants

The very low spread that banks may charge the truck financing is hindering the granting of credit, especially for small and medium-sized customers, second commented on Monday (21) executives of the segment during the 2014 perspectives seminar, promoted by Autodata. According to them, if the Government allows banks to charge higher spreads, there would be a significant improvement in the industry.
"The problem is not with the PSI-BNDES Finame, is with the financial sector. Medium and small customers want to buy and can't, which impairs the performance of retail. There is a repressed volume big that could be tapped, "said Ioana Mansur, Director of sales and marketing for Mercedes-Benz trucks.
For Ricardo Alouche, Vice President of sales and marketing at MAN, with the deceleration of the Brazilian economy in recent quarters many small customers were delinquent, collaborating so that banks became more stringent in granting credit.
Seminar participants pointed out that agriculture helped the truck segment in the first half and should continue with a positive performance in the second. The expectation is that with the recovery of the industry, sales of trucks also will recover in the second half of 2014, though not in enough pace to offset the decline earlier this year. Many executives have observed a gradual resumption in sales this month, but it is not yet possible to say whether this trend will be sustainable.
Bus
Already the bus segment must continue living a difficult context in the second half of this year, according to executives in the industry said. After registering a fall of 11.1% in production and 13.7% in sales in the first half, the segment expects a slight improvement in the second half of the year, but that won't be enough to offset this fall.
"The crisis in the sector began in the middle of last year, with the popular manifestations, that questioned the quality of collective transport. The second half will not be able to recover the losses from the first, but the situation in major capitals already unlocked, "commented Paul Corso, Director of commercial operations of Marcopolo. The company, after registering a decline of almost 15% in production in the first six months of the year, expects to finish with a 2014 retraction of 10% to 13%.
The participants of the debate reminded that the Brazilian fleet has on average 9.8 years and there is a commitment to reduce the age for five years, which would mean a significant increment to the thread.
