Generics are 65% of the country's most prescribed medicines, says entity

Of the 20 most prescribed medicines in Brazil, 13 are generic-equivalent to 65% of the total, according to a study of the PróGenéricos (Industry Association).
To analyze the acceptance of the drug on the market, the Association tabbed a third of 65 million prescriptions issued between February 2013 and February this year.
Among the most recommended generics, are indicated for treatments against hypertension, diabetes, depression and infections, according to the survey.
The generic circulating in the country for 15 years and, by law, is 35% cheaper than conventional remedies.
The expansion of the product is the result of the efficacy of the product, says President PróGenéricos Executive, Telma Salles.
This kind of medicine reached in February a 28.2 percent share of the domestic market-the biggest since when it was released, according to the entity.
In the last 10 years, the generic segment earned R $ 55.7 billion. Just in the first two months of this year, the industries in the area marketed r $ 2.3 billion-a high of 27% compared to r $ 1.8 billion recorded in the same period in 2013.
The generic covers 95% of diseases classified by the Ministry of health.
"The challenge is to expand it to more complex diseases, such as cancer and nervous system", says the Executive of the Association.

The signs of recovery of the American economy has been the Brazilian industry of wood projecting an increase in exports to the United States this year.
It is estimated that the volume of pine plywood sold to u.s. market reaches 143 thousand cubic meters, a high of almost 20% from 2013, according to Abimci (processed wood industry association).
"As the industry is very dependent on the construction industry, the last few years have been difficult in sales to the United States because of the housing crisis in the country," says José Carlos Januário, President of the entity.
"In the last ten years, while global production of compensated grew, on average, 24%, in Brazil, fell 23%", says the Executive.
Despite the expectation of a resumption, exports can be influenced in a negative way if there are more fall in the exchange rate. "For the sector, the ideal is that the dollar is above R $ 2.40."
Until 2007, the United States was the main destination of the compensated. With the crisis, have been overtaken by countries such as Germany, United Kingdom and Belgium.
