French wine takes premium wine for aluminum

Wine in aluminum is nothing new in several countries (see paragraph 152, 2 EmbalagemMarca (Brandpackaging) April 2012), but for the first time a premium French wine, controlled appellation (AOC) is packaged in metal container. The Winestar launched a line of three wines – white, rosé and red wine – produced in the Languedoc AOC Corbières designation in 187 milliliter cans provided by Ball Packaging Europe. The idea is to get consumers of beer and soft drinks who prefer the convenience of cans to the ritual of opening of wine in glass bottles.
To support the acidity and the alcohol level of the wine, the Tin walls are thicker and has developed an internal coating varnish that does not react with the drink or accelerates the process of oxidation.
