Premium line of Citroën falls in like the Brazilian consumer

The premium line of Citroen DS, seems to have fallen in the taste of Brazil. Launched in 2012, the DS5 hatch, for example, 300 units sold in less than a month after their presentation in the country.
"Sell the first batch that we import the car quickly. Demand is high and we already increased production schedule, "said the Managing Director of Citroën from Brazil, Francesco Abbruzzesi.
The line is the bet of the brand over here and in the world. According to the Executive, later this month will be released over a model already sold in Europe, the hatch DS4, less than the 5 D, but greater than the DS3 — this competes in the segment of supercompact.
"I believe that this model will also have great success in Brazil," said Abbruzzesi.
Citroën Brazil already imports a batch of 250 cars for the start of sales on 1 March this year. "It's an alternative model, with automatic gear, for that customer who likes the sportiness of the DS3, but cannot do without the comfort of the DS5. I believe it will be a car line with great demand, "said Abbruzzesi.
The Executive also said that the Citroën will launch in March the third distinctive line model DS, the Coupe lifted DS4. Will have 165 Horsepower engine and 6-speed sequential automatic gearbox.
The Group Peugeot-Citroen (PSA), which owns the brand, bet right on the premium line. So much so that last year, 18% of worldwide sales were vehicles with higher added value. The Group sold 2.82 million units, with 1.26 million cars Citroën.
Since 2010, Citroën has sold over 300 thousand vehicles of line DS (DS3, DS4 and DS5). The line DS represented last year 18% of sales of Citroen in Europe. In Germany, the Citroën DS3 was elected "Best imported car" by the readers of Auto Zeitung.
Already in early 2013, the launch of the Citroen DS3 Convertible will come complete the DS line. In addition, the brand already promises also a sport utility vehicle (SUV) of the premium line, which will be called DSX. The new model, based on DS5.
"We have a well-founded strategy. Sales of premium models have doubled in five years, "said the President of PSA, Phillippe Varin.
In Brazil, will be no different. Here, Citroën sold 74.6 thousand units, earning 2.05% share in the Brazilian market. For this year, the goal is to reach 2.4% of car sales in the country with 85 thousand units.
"In 2012 we went through a period of transition. We had a stop above the factory in Puerto Real (RJ) on the basis of capacity. It hurt us in the Brazilian market. But in Latin America had won in our sales, "said the President of PSA for Latin America, Carlos Gomes.
