Consumer movement in super and hypermarkets advances 3.5%

According to Serasa Experian Indicator of Trade activity, the movement of consumers in stores across the country grew by 0.1% in January/18, already discounted seasonal influences. Compared with the same month last year (January/17), the growth was 6.0%. The segment of super and hypermarkets is among those who grew back in January/18 compared with the same month last year. The high was 3.5%. Over the same period to 2017, was decrease of 0.8%. According to Serasa Experian's economists, the continued expansion of the real income of consumers and expansion of the credit supply contributed to a positive outcome of the retail activity in this first month of 2018, especially when compared with the month of January last year. But other markets were even better in the same period. Case of furniture, electronics and computer science whose increase was 6.8%. Already the segment of vehicles, motorcycles and parts surged interannual of 3.7%. Negative side, there was a retreat in January/18 to 7.8% in the segment of fuels and lubricants, 7.3% in textiles, clothing, footwear and accessories and 8.7% in construction materials, always when compared with the first month of last year. The Serasa Experian indicator indicator of Trade activity is built, exclusively, by the volume of monthly queries performed by commercial establishments to Serasa Experian database. Queries (in the forms of growth rates) are statistically treated by the method of averages trimmed with 20% cut in the upper and lower extremities. With growth rates and weighted by the volume of queries for each commercial enterprise is built the indicator series. The sample consists of approximately 6,000 commercial enterprises and the scorecard, beginning in January 2000, is segmented into six branches of commercial activity.
