With the higher than expected performance of the textile and clothing sector, the Brazilian Association of Textile and Clothing Industry (Abit) revised up projections for the year, disclosed in January. The Association went from 1% to 2% forecast of advancement of apparel production-5.5 billion pieces, compared with 5.41 billion in 2016. The projection of retailing, now passed to a 3% growth in sales-6.2 billion pieces. For textile production, the Abit remained with the high of 1% over the past year, with 1.72 million tons.
