Cefapac, the blister without plastic material

Designed to be hung in a display in the shops, the blisters usually have back in cardboard and the front molded in clear plastic, so that the consumer can view the article. Without a doubt, is one of the most used packaging in the world. The novelty is that, from now on, the blisters can be entirely made of cardboard.
"The development process came from two criteria: environmental impact and ease of opening," says Eirik Faukland, specialist with long experience in the packaging industry and current Director of the P&D division of the Moltzau. "To work around the well-known difficulty of opening the plastic blister packs, the initial idea was to use cardboard to replace the plastic. The specificity of Cefapac solution is that traditional folds have perforated lines, which facilitates the opening of the packaging ".
However, like the perforated lines could decrease the level of content protection, the use of cardboard was crucial. The Norwegian company decided to look for the manufacturer of cardboard Iggesunds Bruk, which produces the Invercote. "The excellent resistance against tearing the Invercote offers is an essential parameter in the manufacture of high quality packaging," says Eirik Faukland. "Their strength and performance demonstrated along the steps of conformation and introduction of the product are essential".
The Swix ski wax manufacturer known worldwide, is already using the Cefapac for packing of some types of wax and intends to expand the use of this solution to other products. The system has been also adopted by other market sectors, such as bandages and medicines not controlled. The Cefapac is adapted to many categories of products traditionally sold in blisters, especially cosmetics.
In addition to the environmental benefits and the ease of use for consumers, the Moltzau explains that the perforated containers Cefapac offer the advantage of increasing the speed of filling-packaging lines, compared with molding processes of blisters with folds.
In the second half of 2015, the Cefapac won the Scanstar Prize for packaging sector Scandinavian. This year, the product will receive the WorldStar Award, awarded by the World Packaging Organisation.
The creator of packing, Eirik Faukland, also received applause from representatives of victims '' associations of rheumatism from Sweden and Norway. These associations have urged the industries in the sector to develop solutions to facilitate the opening of packages by users.
