Mercedes joins Bosch to develop autonomous cars

Frankfurt – the Mercedes-Benz, Daimler, and the vendor Robert Bosch are forming an Alliance to develop autonomous cars, with a focus on accelerating the production of "taxis-bots".
The agreement between the largest manufacturer of luxury cars in the world and the largest global provider of auto parts form a powerful counterweight to new participants in the industry, like Uber and Didi, who are working in autonomous cars with a business model geared toward customers who want to use services instead of buying their own cars.
Bosch, which was founded in 1886, will develop the software and algorithms required for autonomous direction, along with the German carmaker.
The partnership with Bosch Help Mercedes with more engineering resources to cars, allowing the advance in many years of the time when you can have a production system of autonomous cars.
"The main objective of the project is to achieve the development to the production of a navigation system that allows cars converge so completely autonomous in the city," said Daimler.
Last year, Goldman Sachs projected that the market for advanced navigation systems and autonomous vehicles can jump from 3 billion dollars in 2015 to 96 billion in 2025 and 290 billion in 2035.
