KFC plans to eliminate use of antibiotics in the chicken until the end of 2018

NEW YORK-the fast food KFC announced this Friday, 7, who, by the end of 2018, all chickens bought by u.s. network will be created without the use of antibiotics that are important for the treatment of humans.
KFC was being pressured by activist groups and consumer health, after networks such as McDonald''s and Subway have undertaken to reduce or eliminate the use of these medicines.
According to some experts, the indiscriminate use of antibiotics that are also used in the treatment of humans can cause bacteria harmful to health to develop resistance to these drugs.
KFC, owned by Yum Brands, said that the decision will require changes in how chickens are raised in approximately 2000 farms in the country.
In accordance with the public interest research group, the measure may represent a watershed for the poultry sector. Currently, about 40% of the chickens in the US are created under a program that limits the use of antibiotics, and KFC''s decision may raise this proportion to 50% or more, said the group.
