Building materials Sales Fall 8.9%

According to research of the Brazilian Association of the industry of building materials (Abramat), sales of building materials registered a fall of 8.9% in January, compared to the previous year. In comparison with December, total sales increased 1.5 percent in January. In 12 months, accumulated in the retraction was of 10.9%. In the basic materials, the reduction was 11.4%, in the finishing, the fall was of 5.3%. The Abramat classifies the level of unemployment and the adverse credit conditions as responsible for the drop in sales. According to the entity, the improvement of the performance of the materials industry is linked to the fall of interest rates and the reforms that encourage consumption.
