Braskem inaugurates polymer plant in the U.S.

Braskem inaugurates on Wednesday, 29, ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE PLASTIC SPROCKETS) in La Porte, Texas. The UHMWPE PLASTIC SPROCKETS will be marketed with the brand name UTEC and was developed with Braskem''s technology.
Operations commenced in January 2017 and will focus on customers in North America, Europe and Asia.
"We are happy with the inauguration today, that will allow us to increase our presence and commitment in La Porte through new production capabilities of next-generation, UHMWPE PLASTIC SPROCKETS UTEC. The new plant of UTEC was well executed and completed successfully without registering any security incident.
We hope to expand the UTEC business to better serve our clients and develop for them new high-value applications, "said Christopher Gee, Global Business Director UTEC Braskem, in a statement sent to the press.
According to the company, the resin is eight times lighter than steel, 10 times more durable than the high density polyethylene (HDPE) and serves industries such as automotive and transportation, consumer electronics, fibres and textiles, industrial and heavy machinery, material handling, oil and gas, pipelines and mining, porous plastics, recreation, as well as applications for the end consumer.
