Nestlé Purina inaugurates first wet food factory of Latin America

Nestlé announced on Friday (3/2) R$ 270 million investment in a new factory of Purina, in Ribeirão Preto (SP), which will produce wet food for dogs and cats with unique technology. The town houses, there are 44 years, Nestlé Purina factory for production of all the dry line. The company invests in the production of wet food, with the expectation of doubling the consumption of this kind of feedingstuffs for dogs and cats in the country. The new unit will generate approximately 80 new direct jobs – almost half the picture formed by women-and other indirect 400.
According to the company, this will be the first factory of Nestlé Purina in Latin America to rely on proprietary technology in the process of texturing wet rations – which enables preserving pieces similar to the meat, giving it greater product naturalness and proper nutrition for dogs and cats.
The new plant covers an area of 8000 m ² and begins operations with all rows of wet food (Friskies, Cat Chow and Dog Chow) with ability to meet the domestic and international markets.

According to Laurent Freixe, Nestlé ''s Global Vice President and Head of Zone Americas, the construction of the new factory reinforces the confidence of Nestlé in Brazil and Latin America. For Juan Carlos Marroquín, CEO of Nestlé Brazil, the beginning of the operation represents an important evolution for the petfood market. "The unique technology of Purine in conjunction with the studies promoted will generate even more value to the entire segment", he comments.

Anderson Duarte, ceo of Nestlé Purina in Brazil, points out that all the innovation brought to the Brazilian market will further strengthen the relationship with the consumer. "With the new plant, we will have the opportunity to offer more innovative products with quality Purina", concludes the Executive.
