GPA grows back more than Carrefour hypermarket in atacarejo turning

The Grupo Pão de Açúcar (GPA) grew back in rhythm than your biggest competitor, Carrefour. Packed by the sales network of atacarejo Assai, the retailer controlled by Casino increased the distance front to rival in this third quarter, after having spent nearly three years with lower sales performance in the country, which began to be reversed at the beginning of 2017. The Pão de Açúcar group was 3.3% sales growth in the third quarter in same stores, which consider only open units for over a year. The same criterion, Carrefour's sales rose 1.1 percent.
The main reason for the growth faster than GPA this year is the performance of Assai, which gained a boost with a project of the company to transform shops that were Extra hypermarkets in points of sale of the atacarejo network. Only in this third quarter, finalised four Extra Hyper conversions to Assam. According to the company, these stores sales were tripled in relation to that were recorded in Extra, a result higher than the initial expectation of the GPA itself, which was to increase sale in 2.5 times.
