Owner of the Jack Daniel''s distillery Scotland purchase

American spirits maker Brown-Forman, owner of Jack Daniel''s whiskey, announced yesterday that it has reached a definitive agreement to buy the Scottish distillery BenRiach Distillery Company for about 285 million pounds ($ 416 million).

Brown-Forman has been a minority shareholder of Glenmorangie. The American was selling the brand Glenmorangie single malt whisky in the United States and Canada, between 1992 and 2005, and in Europe and Asia, between 2000 and 2005. Brown-Forman sold its share in Glenmorangie in negotiating the brand for the Moet Hennessy in 2005.
