Walmart will invest $ 300 million in the Northeast

After nearly a year and a half without open stores in the country, Walmart opened a hypermarket in Recife (PE) and will open three more in the Northeast this year. The company is considered the largest retailer in the world and the third largest supermarket chain of Brazil. According to the Ranking of SM supermarkets last year, Walmart made $ 29,6 billion in the country, ending the year with 544 shops and 74,738 employees. In the northeastern region will be invested r $ 300 million, including funding for the new stores, existing reform and integration of systems in the Country.
The restructuring plan on the network started in 2014 and 164 stores until last month had their operations and integrated systems. Two years ago, the network closed 25 units, fired employees and opened other 22 units. Since then, concentrated on cutting spending and seek efficiencies in logistics, purchasing and unification of the operations of the stores.
