Owner of 31.4% less profit in Brastemp Brazil in Q2

SÃO PAULO-Whirlpool, the American appliance maker, reported profit 31.4% lower in its Brazilian operations in the second quarter, r $ 118,3 million. The fall refers to the comparison with the same period in 2013.
The net revenue of the owner of the brand Brastemp fell 5.7% in the three months to June, to $ 2.07 billion. Costs retreated in only 1%, to $ 1.68 billion, and expenditures fell in equal proportion to r $ 223,3 million.
Even with the help of the positive financial result in $ 6.9 million, compared to losses of R $ 26.1 million recorded a year earlier, earnings were weakened by the fall in sales.
In a report published this morning, the company had reported that revenue in Latin America fell 8 .3 percent in the quarter, versus the same period last year. The American Group was billing the $ 1.1 billion in the region, pressured by the lower demand for its appliances, higher raw material costs and unfavorable exchange.
