Steel cans sector designs high 2% of production in this year

The industry of steel cans is preparing for a heating business in the food segment this year and projected high of 2% of production for 2014, according to the Brazilian Association of steel Packaging (ABEAÇO).
"Primarily the business of healthy nutrition and for children have grown quite a bit," says the Executive Manager of ABEAÇO, Thaís Fagury. She points out that the consumption of steel cans have been stable in Brazil, but some segments are growing more.

"The paint manufacturers have a huge concern with the safety of packagings, mainly to prevent spoofing", says Thais. Last year, were manufactured 5.7 billion cans for paints.
The ABEAÇO estimates that this year, the apparent consumption of steel cans should register a growth around 2.8% in comparison to 2013.
The reuse of steel cans in the industry itself is not enough to achieve 50%, in Brazil, while the recycling of aluminium cans achieves almost 98% of the consumed in the country. In order to change this picture, steel packaging manufacturers have invested $ 1 million in Prolata, entity to encourage and organize the recycling of steel cans.
"We've done the diagnosis of 50 cooperatives that will receive guidance in the 12 host cities for the World Cup," says Thais. She emphasizes that the training that involves the correct disposal of cans ever begins this month.
According to the Executive, the material is classified, pressed and sent to steelmakers transform the product in new sheet metal.
