Galaxy S5 will surpass sales of the S4, says Samsung Executive

SEOUL – the new S5 Galaxy smartphone from Samsung Electronics expected to surpass its predecessor in sales and disprove predictions that the latest model of the South Korean company would have difficulties in a difficult market for top-of-the-line appliances, said a company executive.
The largest manufacturer of cell phones in the world released the S5, prices that were released globally on Friday, with the average price of 600 dollars, and more than doubled the number of countries to release 125, in an attempt to sustain growth in the cellular market, which generates 70% of its consolidated profit.
A good release is crucial for Samsung, which recorded the second consecutive quarterly profit fall this month, while business margins of smartphones is under increasing pressure due to competition from cheaper Chinese rivals.
"The S5 is selling faster than the S4 so far, despite the difficulty of disclosing specific numbers, since we're in the early stages," said Yoon Han-kil, Senior Vice President of product strategy at Samsung, in an interview with Reuters. "Sales of S5 will be much better than the S4 's."
Although Samsung has not disclosed any sales goal for the S5, the company sold more than 10 million S4 in the first month of release of the phone. Yoon said that sales of the S5 must be significantly more than that number.
Initial sales are important to predict the chances of long-term success of a product that represents a change in strategy from Samsung.
So far, the company's phones were known for their hardware innovations such as high-definition screen S4, while their software was seen as a differential compared to most applications utilities of apparatus of rival Apple.
With the S5, however, Samsung offered few hardware innovations. Instead, their focus became qualities such as resistance to water, a better camera and "superpotentes storage modes" that automatically discards unnecessary applications when the battery is about to end.
