Nestle sees higher revenue and profit in the first half

Switzerland Nestle, the world's largest food manufacturer, reported net income attributable to shareholders of 5.1 billion Swiss francs (US $ 5.5 billion) in the first half, which corresponds to a high of 3.7% over a year earlier. The result was in line with the projections of economists.
Nestle's net revenue totaled 45.2 billion Swiss francs in the six months ended in June, 5.3% against a year earlier. The food and beverage company noticed in cost of products sold, "reflecting widespread drop of inputs", among other factors.
Nestlé warned that still expects a growth around 5% for sales in the rest of the year despite the challenge of weaker markets around the world.
Brazil
The food and beverage company noted that Brazil "continued to deliver high level of organic growth", with emphasis on the Deva and biscuit.
In the area of clinical nutrition, Nestlé Health Science, the highlight in Brazil was the release of Senior food supplement Nourishes ready to drink turned to the public of the third age.
The company does not disclose data by country. Organic revenue in the region of the Americas grew 5% in the first half compared with 2012, to 13.6 billion Swiss francs (US $ 14.75 billion). The amount is equivalent to 30.1% of Group revenue.
Nestlé breaks down sales by three regions-just in Europe, organic growth below the global average of the group, 0.5% against 4.1%. The other two regions-Americas and Asia, Oceania, Africa-have grown 5% each.
