Vehicle production hits record in first half

After the fall recorded in 2012, vehicle production resumed growth trajectory in the first half of 2013. The automotive industry has accelerated the pace at 18.1% in the period, reaching the mark story of 1.85 million units manufactured between January and June. Until then, the record was the volume produced in the same period in 2011, when they came out of assembly lines 1.71 million light commercial vehicles, trucks and buses.
-Here's the letter of the Anfavea and here the presentation of the June performance numbers.
The Anfavea, vehicle manufacturers association, released the data on Thursday, 4. The President of the entity, Luiz Moan, believes that the good volume is the result of import substitution. "We estimate that between 40 000 and 50 000 vehicles that were imported were replaced by national cars." The move, he said, was spurred by the latest releases, which attracted the interest of the consumer.
In addition, the Innovate-Auto, new automotive regime which came into force in January, determines import quotas for companies enabled. The surplus brought volume from overseas is sobretaxado with the IPC additional 30 points. With the national car market gain, the participation of models produced in other countries fell 0.7 percentage point in the first half compared with last year, to 20.2%.
This participation is less every month. In July the market share of imported cars on the domestic market was 19.2%. If you keep on the same path, this percentage should end the year with important reduction on 2012.
THREADS
In the first half, the production of light vehicles reached robust volume of 1.73 million units, with expansion of 16.4% over January-June 2012. Were manufactured by 1.4 million cars and light commercial thousand 331.8, evolution of 17.6% and 11.8%, respectively.
The most important advance in production, however, was registered between the heavy. With 95.2 thousand trucks, truck production grew 52.5%. The bus segment evolved 36.1%, to 21.5 thousand chassis.
MONTHLY PERFORMANCE Considering just the month of June, the production of vehicles amounted to 320.8 million units. The volume is 15.5% higher than noted in the same 2012 period. Still, there was a drop of 7.8% in comparison with may. Moan justifies that the pullback is the result of the lower number of working days, since May had 21 days of June and had just 20. The Executive ensures that the daily average of manufacturing remained high, around 16 thousand units.
With 242.8 thousand units, car production grew 12.8 percent in June on the result registered a year ago. In comparison with the previous month was decrease of 9.8%. On that same basis, decreased 3.2%, light commercial to 56.7 thousand units. The segment showed increase of 7.3% as compared to the same range of 2012.
Among the models, the production of heavy trucks had a strong increase in June, 4.8% on monthly basis and 94.3% in the annual, to 17.1 million units. With four thousand chassis, the bus sector advanced 4.9% and 18.9% on may on June of the previous year.
EXPECTATIONS the Anfavea prefers not to revise projections for the vehicle production this year and the expectation that the automotive industry manufacturing 3.49 million units, with growth of 4.5% over the outcome of 2012. "The situation is still uncertain and I don't want to make mistakes if you do new projection, so I prefer to wait," he explains.
The trend is that in the coming months the production expansion is less compared to last year. In the second half of 2012 accelerated industry stimulated by IPI reduction. Moan believes that the demonstrations in several regions of the country may affect the performance of the vehicles in July.
The difficulties of mobility caused by the interruption of traffic on some roads hamper consumer access to dealers. In addition, the circulation problems interrupted the supply of parts and components. "We've had reports that it happened in at least four automakers," says, indicating that there are difficulties for companies located close to Anchieta, in the ABC paulista, in Gravataí (RS), and in Minas Gerais.
The Association of manufacturers confirmed increase in the level of inventories of 36 days in may for 39 days in June between industry and utilities, to 415.3 thousand vehicles. Moan ensures that the increase is considered normal. "This new level corresponds to the increase in the supply of products. We already have 2,077 models and versions in the domestic market ", reveals.
