SP: 3rd largest factory VW reaches 8 million engines

The Volkswagen plant in São Carlos (SP) reached 8 million engines produced since the inauguration in 1996, according to the automaker announced on Thursday. The unit is the third-largest brand in the world.
The plant was the first to produce a 1.0 l turbo engine in Brazil, in 1999, that was the Goal, and also the first booster 1.0 l flex, in 2003. She recently won a new building to manufacture the new 1.0 l three-cylinder engine, which will power the Fox Bluemotion.
According to Volkswagen, the factory employs 830 employees and produces on average 80 thousand engines per month in 67 different models of 1.0 l and 1.6 l, which are used in the new goal, Fox, New Voyage, CrossFox, SpaceFox, Sloop, Polo, Polo Sedan, Kombi, Gol G4 and Golf.
For the Brazilian market, 100% of the engines produced in San Carlos are bi-fuel, but are also made gasoline engines for vehicles intended for export. In the first five months of 2013, produced 352,893 engines. In 2012, the factory reached a record 909,737 engines produced.
