Grupo Pão de Açúcar has net income of r $ 42 million in the second quarter

The Pão de Açúcar group, the largest retail network in the country, recorded net income of r $ 42,090 million in the second quarter, compared with net income of r $ 254,649 million obtained in the same period last year, a retreat of 83.4%, as consolidated income statement released late on Tuesday. According to consolidated income statement available on the website of the Brazilian Securities Commission (CVM), which includes the operations of supermarkets and hypermarkets of Pão de Açúcar and Via retail, net revenue was r $ 13,382 billion in the second quarter against r $ 12,037 billion in same period in 2012, in expansion of 11.1%.
The cost of sales of the Group amounted to r $ 9,832 billion in the second quarter, up from $ 8,808 billion in the same period last year, up from 11.6%.
Gross profit in the second quarter reached r $ 3,550 billion, compared to R $ 3,229 billion in the same period last year, a 9.9%.
The company's costs grew by 20.1% in the second quarter of this year, to $ 3.155 billion, compared to R $ 2,626 billion in same period in 2012.
The Ebit (result before financial result and taxes) for the second quarter reached R $ 395,376 million, against r $ 602,726 million in the second quarter of 2012, a retreat of 34.4%.
Considering the food segment of the group, advanced 10.6% in the second quarter, against a year earlier, to $ 7,321 billion. In the initial six months of the year, there were high of 10.7%.
In the area of non-food, which includes physical stores of Viavarejo and the new dot com, net revenue was R $ 6,062 billion in the period, with evolution of 14%. In the first half, Rose was 11.6%.
According to the report, the company's focus on expansion has enabled the delivery of 33 new stores in the quarter, and 23 Extra mini-market, four of Casas Bahia, three of Açaí, two of the sugar loaf and a drugstore. The Group reaffirmed its commitment to the growth projection of over 6% for Food and GPA between 2% and 3% to Viavarejo this year.
In the second fortnight of June, there were demonstrations in Brazil that led the company to close some stores for a few hours, in certain periods. The Group assesses which impacts on sales and other costs were not relevant and not significantly detracted from the performance of the quarter.
