Danone buys Nutrimed Brazilian

São Paulo-Danone Medical Nutrition, clinical nutrition arm of the French company, bought Brazilian Nutrimed, company of the same industry with factory in Fortaleza, Ceará.
According to statement, the Nutrimed has a complementary portfolio to that of Danone, offering products for enteral diet, feeding for oral or probes and food supplements for weight recovery.
"The Brazilian market is increasingly relevant for Danone and is a clear priority for us in terms of strategic investment. With this acquisition, we will expand our solutions in medical nutrition and contribute even more to the growth of the domestic market, while strengthening our operations, "said Marcelo Borges, President of the Danone Medical Nutrition, in a statement.
Danone Medical Nutrition acts in Brazil since 1996 through the Support nutritional products. The new unit will increase the national production capacity of the company and ensure a more complete portfolio of products.
According to the company, the founders of Nutrimed are kept as business consultants. "The company will be part of a large multinational group that, certainly, will be cause for celebration for all people who accompany us in these 20 years of hard work," said Paulo Roberto Leitão de Vasconcelos, one of the founders of the company, also in a statement.
