UP! comes with the mission to be the cheaper VW

Henry Ford invented the Assembly line for about a century, but one of the laws of the production line has not changed to this day: the more you produce an item plus its cost will be diluted and, of course, the greater your profit margin. Because it is following this principle that Volkswagen wants to take the lead in the world in vehicle sales in 2018.
What is the secret? Use only four platforms or architectures, as some experts prefer to call to produce all of its cars and light commercial models, including its other brands such as Audi, Seat or Skoda.
By platform read a set of common components such as suspension, steering shaft, engine, transmission and other smaller parts such as entertainment systems, on-board instruments and even a small glass electric drive button, for example. If more models use these same parties, the greater the scale of production, consequently, the cost will fall enough, what will these vehicles extremely competitive. It is the first fruit of the NSF platform (New Small Family, which will serve as a basis for all compact models of the German group) that will be produced in Brazil.
Minimalist and modern the Up! is already sold in Europe since last year as successor to Fox. In Brazil, however, the Up! will another national paper, the overriding Goal G4 as its cheaper model. For this, the original project underwent changes to fit the needs of domestic customers.
The main novelty is the slightly elongated body to provide more capacity in the trunk (see before and after below). In the European version, there is a glass cover that here will be made of metal.
In addition, the Up! Brazil will finish simpler than European, although this is not a car or a little sophisticated.
