Natura provides slightly less expansion in the industry in 2013

The market value of personal hygiene, perfumery and cosmetics should grow slightly below in 2013, said the President of Natura, Alessandro Carlucci, in Conference call analysts held today on the company's result in the first quarter.
Last year, the market closed with revenues of r $ 24, 2 billion, up 15.6%, according to data from the Union of Industries of Perfumery and toiletries in the State of São Paulo (Sipatesp).
"The income of households and the increase in the minimum wage, lower in 2013, is directly related to the growth of this market," said Carlucci.
New line
Natura will launch a new line of lower priced products in different categories of personal hygiene. In this segment, the Natura lost 1.5 percentage point of market share last year, mainly in hair products and deodorants.
The plan should be achieved at the end of the second quarter, when the products begin to be sold by consultants.
Alessandro Carlucci not detailed the strategy for the new line. "This year we will retrieve our participation with innovations. Did price test and saw that the cannibalization has been very low. "
The company invests a year ago in this project, with the testing of new products of personal hygiene in some cities in the State of São Paulo to Ribeirão Preto, Franca and São José dos Campos.
