Rice packaging use compostable cellulose film

The Belgian Lima Foods, American food group company Hain Celestial, has just launched a new line of organic rice packed in containers made from compostable NatureFlex film from Innovia Films. The products are already available in European retail specializing in natural and organic foods.
"We are market leaders in the area of organic nutrition and we needed a packaging film that deploy our product and ' married ' with our sustainable mentality," says Chantal Uytenhoven, purchasing manager of Lima Foods.
NatureFlex films are obtained from cellulose pulp and, for disposal, can be intended for home or industrial composting. According to Innovia Films, the materials have antistatic property, resist oils and provide a barrier against gases and aromas. The film used on packages of Lima, transparent, is printed by paints also certified for composting.
