Paralymart for lemon export from Brazil to Eurasia

Brazil is one of the world's largest producers of Tahiti lemon and the largest exporter of fruit to the European Union, according to Abrafrutas (Brazilian Association of Fruit and Derivatives Exporting Producers).
Although only 7% of what is produced is destined to the international market - about 70 million tons - in the last decade the export of lemon has doubled in the country. And in 2020, with the Covid-19 pandemic and the recommendation of health professionals to increase the consumption of FLVs (fruits, vegetables and vegetables) to strengthen immunity, the demand for citrus around the world has been growing.
Developing conservative solutions with the DaColheita brand, and working with producers and traders partners, Termotécnica - based in Joinville (SC) and units in five states - has contributed to the expansion of the participation of Brazilian fruits in foreign markets. Now in July, a large cargo of Tahiti lemon has just been dispatched to fuel the Euasia market, packed in the conservative DaColheita.
By having a long transit time, from about a month between harvest in Brazil until it is available to the consumer of these countries buyers, the characteristics of the conservative in EPS DaColheita bring great benefits throughout the chain. With this packaging and conservation solution, fruits imported from Brazil can support the long journey of transport arriving fresh and with their nutritional values preserved in the most distant markets.
"Our post-harvest solutions value and are a great asset for Brazilian fruit producers, as they ensure that they are packaged, transported, delivered and exposed to their customers in several countries with the same quality, freshness and care of the cultivation and harvesting process," says Nivaldo Oliveira, thermotechnical's managing director.
In this true race against time, from producer to consumer, Termotécnica's postharvest solutions increase the shelf-life of fruits by up to 30% while maintaining their nutritional properties for longer.
Certified by tests in European laboratories (AgroTropical and HDG), these results provide reduction of losses and food waste, which makes the Collection line sustainable and suitable for conditioning fruits from harvest to consumer, reduce absorption of impacts on transport and improve retail exposure.
With patented technology and designs, they allow high thermal insulation, ease of stacking and transportation. This also represents more days with healthy fruit on gondolas with many advantages for the retailer. Still on the issues of operation and logistics costs, the benefits of conservative in EPS DaColheita in relation to other materials are proven. Compared to cardboard packaging, for example, eps conservatives are up to 60% lighter, reducing weight by about 30%, which also represents savings in air freight.
With health safety at the top of consumer concerns around the world, in Europe specifically, the Packaging and Environment Organisation asked the European Commission in March to recognise packaging as an essential component to maintain the uninterrupted flow of product groups identified as critical, such as "health-related and perishable goods, especially food."
Termotécnica defines the positioning of the DaColheita line as a great "travel companion" for fruits grown by Brazilian producers to arrive in perfect condition to demanding markets such as European and Asian. "We present the test results and quantify the gains according to each reality. With the expansion of shelf-life and all the characteristics of logistics efficiency, such as reduction in freight, we help customers to increase competitiveness and, consequently, their sales volumes and market share worldwide", says Nivaldo de Oliveira.
And with the WorldStar 2019 award, awarded by WPO (World Packaging Organization), one of the most important recognitions of the packaging market, in the Food and Save Food categories, Termotécnica is consolidated as a world reference in post-harvest solutions contributing to brazilian fruits, vegetables and vegetables gaining more prominence in international markets and fighting food waste.
