Consumer Confidence falls 1.2 point in January

São Paulo — The Consumer Confidence Index (ICC), measured by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), fell 1.2 point from December 2019 to January this year and reached 90.4 points on a scale of zero to 200. The drop came after the 2-point high in the november-to-December passage. The January result was mainly pulled by the Expectations Index, which measures consumer confidence over the coming months and retreated 1.4 point. As a end, the subindex reached 98.9 points. The Current Situation Index, a subindex that measures consumer confidence at the present time, fell 0.9 point to 78.7. The components that most influenced the fall of the ICC were the intention of purchasing durable goods in the coming months (minus 5.4 points) and the perception of consumers about the financial situation of the family at the time (minus 3.2 points).
