Sale of vehicles drops 2.25% in August, informs Fenabrave

The vehicle market began to give signs of weakening, after consecutive months of growth. The number of sales in August was 2.25% below that recorded in the same month last year. 243,000 Automobiles, light commercials (pickups and vans), trucks and buses were implacated last month. The data are from the National Federation of Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave), which represents the concessionaires. In the year's accumulated, however, sales were 9.93% higher compared to the first eight months of last year, totaling 1,790,000 vehicles. The fall in August was pulled by car sales and light commercial. The emplacements of these two segments, together, recorded a decrease of 3.53% last month in relation to the same period of 2018. In recent months, the new car market has been sustained by direct sales to fleet owners. The truck market continues to be heated. The 9500 units licensed last month accounted for a 28.78% advance in comparison with August last year. In the year's accumulated, truck sales were 40.92% above the volume of the same period last year. In the case of cargo vehicles, the comparison base is very low because this sector has been severely affected by the crisis.
