The median expectation of Brazilian consumers for inflation over the next 12 months is 5.3%, according to research at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), held in April and released today, in Rio de Janeiro. The rate is 0.2 percentage point greater than the expectations established in the research of March (5.1%).
According to the FGV, the last two months, the inflation expectation builds up 0.4 percentage point high. The April rate is also higher than anticipated by consumers in April 2018 (5%).
According to the FGV researcher Viviane Silk Bandyopadhyay, despite the slowdown in food prices in April, there's pressure in prices of electricity and medicines influencing the current perception and future prospects of consumer inflation.
