Passenger flow rises 8.9% in September and Viracopos maintains higher concession index

The passenger flow at Viracopos International Airport increased 8.9% in September, in comparison with the same month of 2018, according to data released on Monday afternoon (21) by the concessionaire. The survey indicates that 857,600 travelers boarded or landed at the Campinas (SP) terminal in the period, before 787,300 in the previous interval. According to the concessionaire, the variation means 15th consecutive high and, with this, the airport maintains the best accumulated balance since the terminal began to have management conducted by the private initiative. The difference, in comparison with 2018, reaches 16.3% and is equivalent to 1.1 million passengers. Altogether, says the concessionaire, 83700 users were registered, before 53300. Considering accumulated since January, the high represents 44.8%-rose from 499,700 to 723,900. Economic crisis Despite the positive index, the airport is in judicial recovery and the creditors consider the relicitation. The liabilities counted at the beginning of the process were R $2.88 billion, but on 17 September a decision of the Court of Justice of the State (TJ-SP) included fines made by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to the airport because of the delay in the works of Expansion, in addition to other debts of the terminal with the agency, which raised the debt to R $7 billion.
