Number of craft breweries Grows 23%

The number of independent craft breweries in operation in Brazil jumped from 679 to 835, equivalent to growth of 23% by 2018, according to the Ministry of agriculture, livestock and food supply (Mapa). In relation to the regional market, the southern region boasts the largest number of breweries with 369 companies, followed by the Southeast (328), Northeast (61), Midwest (51) and North (26). To the President of the Brazilian Association of Craft Beer (Abracerva), Carlo Lapolli, significant growth is accompanied by increased representation in the sector.
