Logistics: Veracel 3 years full of pulp shipping

Veracel Celulose has completed three years using exclusively the cabotage system to transport the pulp of the Belmonte Marine Terminal (TMB), in the South of Bahia, to Portocel, specialized in the shipment of cellulose port located in the spirit Saint. Since then, the only maritime transport has shown positive results for the company, for the environment and communities in the region. The company produces on average 3,130 tons of pulp per day, which are transported daily from the factory to the terminal of Belmonte. Each barge, when fully charged, is capable of transporting 7,242 t of pulp, i.e. the equivalent of approximately two and a half days of factory production. "In 2015, the terminal became able to operate at your full capacity and thus eliminate the product transport for highways," said Erico Campinhos, logistics Coordinator at Veracel. According to Campinhos, cellulose transport through barge eliminates travel trailer by 380 BR-101. In addition, this reduces the modal emission of carbon dioxide (CO2); avoids the overhead of the highways, offers more quality in the transportation of cargo, minimizes the risk of accidents and allows better planning of the logistics operations of the company. The Belmonte Marine Terminal operates 24 hours a day and has 240 employees qualified for the activities. For this, the company has partnered with the company navigations Norsul, making cabotage; and Julio Simões Logistics company (JSL), which leads to the plant cellulose in Eunápolis to Belmonte. Both are responsible for training of employees, in addition to the handling and loading of the cargo. Within one month, 13 trips are held of the TMB to Portocel, where is made the landing of a total of 94,146 t. The company's efforts go beyond caring for the production and transport of cellulose. Safety at work is one of the priorities of the Company. This year, the TMB also completed five years without lost-time accidents. The result is the result of an integrated security management that values teamwork and safety of its employees.
